how to winter-proof your skin

Skin can dry out during the colder and drier autumn and winter months.

Prevent this happening - no matter what skin type you are - by deeply rehydrating with Simplicité serums and face oils.

Don't be afraid to USE ANOTHER PUMP OF OIL if the harsh winter dryness is making your skin suffer.
(Just remember to exfoliate a little more so that you skin will easily absorb the extra fine plant oils.)

Simplicite - Today Tonight Story

nolene-today-tonightSimplicité featured recently in a beauty article on Channel Seven's Today Tonight program.

Click here to watch the story.

David's comments re the dermatologist's summing up at the end of the story:

"Peptides' are from collagen, which has been shown not to work on the skin. Also, peptides are animal products (usually from cows) which we would never use in Simplicité products.

And, 'moisturising' is in fact easy to do. It's bringing nutrients to the skin which is vitally important.

help dry skin - with a clear conscience

sandalwood-logs

We're proud of the SANDALWOOD we use in Simplicite products.

As with all our ingredients it's of the highest quality available - it

helps dry and sun damaged skin - and by the way, also soothes shaving rash.

But we've had to change from where we source our sandalwood because of ecological issues

wrinkles? not for me - not now!

At 55, Wendy needed our anti-ageing help - her skin felt dry and she could see fine lines developing.

A bit of Simplicite advice later, Wendy looks and feels younger - and she's ecstatic.

"Thanks so much for your help - my skin has never felt so refreshed and plump - and my skin sparkles!"

How did she do it?

help for hyper-pigmentation

Hyper-pigmented skin (extra pigmentation in patches) is a problem for many people.

As a guide, we suggest the following simple trial period to see if Simplicité products will help.

And beware -  IPL and full cosmetic peels will sooner or later cause freckles or pigmentation patches to enlarge.

Preservatives used in Simplicite products

Unless they are refrigerated, skin care products such as creams and lotions must be ‘preserved’ to ensure consistent quality. There have many debates over the past few years about which preservatives are the ‘right’ ones to use - and some wild claims made!

For Simplicité the only issue about which preservative to use can only ever be which is best for skin health.

David Lyons, naturopath, herbalist, and formulator and co-founder of Simplicité Skin Care, explains his philosophy on preserving products with skin sensitivity in mind (and debunks the wild claims as well).

hyaluronic acid - why it can't improve skin

Hyaluronic Acid (also known as Sodium Haluronate) is an ingredient which it seems every skin care brand (except Simplicite) uses.

(Just Google a brand along with 'Hyaluronic Acid' and see how often it comes up.)

The marketing blurb invariably says HA will 'plump up the skin' - but it will actually do the reverse!

In fact, Hyaluronic Acid/Sodium Hyuralonate has been shown to encourage flaky (keratotic) skin and research shows it can even encourage the growth of skin cancers.

beautiful, safe products for pregnancy

basil-pesto-pastaAll Simplicite products are safe to use during pregnancy.
Not only that - David Lyons, creator and formulator, also  actively recommends using aromatherapy essences at therapeutic levels  during pregnancy
for their various benefits.
David explains ...

The government department responsible for the safety of all medicines  and supplements in Australia supports our view and posts no warnings or  restrictions on the THERAPEUTIC use of herbal and aromatherapy products  during pregnancy - except the long-held view that repeated, high doses  of highly laxative herbs should be avoided.

only half the rosehip story

Dedicated followers of Rosehip Oil, and its visible results have something in reserve they're yet to utilise from the extraordinary Rosehip.

The oil is extracted from the inner seeds and is rich in Trans-Retinoic Acids - these work to change the look of ageing caused by the sun.

Now consider what has been thrown away - and what this can also contribute to long-term skin improvement!

botox? no, results lift gel.

Not a week passes without yet another Simplicite customer singing the praises of Results Lift Gel.

It's not just words, as they - and I - keep coming back for more and more of it.

This is NOT one of those 'flash in the pan', heavily promoted 'wonder products' that suddenly, after a few months you don't hear of anymore.

genius at work

David Lyons, naturopath and herbalist, is a hands-on skincare manufacturer who describes his formulations as being made 'from plants, from the ground up'.

Pictured here (at right) at the Simplicite lab supervising the making of a fresh batch of Sundew Cleansing Milk with lab manager Steve, David personally adds his decoctions of between eight and 18 medicinal quality plant extracts to each hand-made product..

Sundew Cleansing Milk is a mix of nine plant extracts; chosen for their synergy - when the similar properties of each extract give a more powerful result when used together than when used alone. In this case that result is to gently and effectively improve the feel and appearance of normal, dry, mature, sensitive and reddened skin.

why 'certified organic' skin care doesn't impress us

It makes no sense to us at all.

David Lyons, respected naturopath for more than 25 years, and formulator of Simplicité, is unimpressed about certified organic.

He believes the 'organic' certification of skin care is ineffectual and is just used for marketing purposes as it can be achieved with a mere 70% total content being classed as 'certified' organic ingredients. As it is, two 'organic' skin care companies in Queensland have already been prosecuted for 'leaving out'  non-organic ingredients.

David says, 'We won’t dumb-down our products to just to have a certificate which puts us in the same league as skin care ranges which we are way above in terms of quality, concentration and activity”.

"The plant extracts used in most products are invariably weak. This absolutely includes the 'certified organic' ones - because the term doesn't mean they're effective.

And the amounts used of these weak extracts can be so very tiny – to say a drop in a bucket would be being generous. This can't and won't give positive, lasting results for skin."

what we'd never put in our face oils

So much!

Other face oils contain these ingredients - 'no-nos' in Simplicite products:

David won’t use - alcohol as it dries and hardens the upper layer of the skin. This reduces the absorption of nutrients and also reduces the rate of elimination of the skin’s own metabolic wastes.

He also won’t use hydrogenated oils, especially peanut oil and hydrogenated hazelnut oil (Clarins is one company which uses this type of hazelnut oil in its face oil products.)
